Day 2: Geothermal Wonders of Yellowstone
This tour features some of Yellowstone’s most iconic destinations. You will visit and learn about:
- Roosevelt Arch:
The historic stone arch at the north entrance of the park, dedicated by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1903.
- Grand Loop Road:
The scenic route that loops around the park, offering stunning views of mountains, valleys, rivers, and lakes.
- Mammoth Hot Springs:
An ever-changing mix of colorful hot springs and travertine terraces, shaped by the underground activity of the Yellowstone Caldera.
- Grand Prismatic Spring:
The largest and most vibrant hot spring in the park, with a rainbow of colors created by the heat-loving bacteria that live in the water.
- Midway Geyser Basin:
A small but impressive geyser basin, home to the Grand Prismatic Spring and the Excelsior Geyser Crater, which discharges more than 4,000 gallons of water per minute.
- Norris Geyser Basin:
The hottest and most dynamic geyser basin in the park, with geysers that erupt frequently and unpredictably, such as Steamboat Geyser, the world’s tallest active geyser.
- Old Faithful:
The most famous and reliable geyser in the park, which erupts every 90 minutes on average, shooting water and steam up to 185 feet in the air!
